Cystitis

Cystitis (inflammation of the bladder) is often due to a bacterial infection of the lower urinary tract. The typical symptoms are pain when passing urine, and going to the toilet often and urgently. These symptoms can also exist in the absence of bacterial infection, which is often referred to as interstitial cystitis or painful bladder syndrome. In older people, cystitis may also cause confusion.
