Gastritis

Gastritis is an inflammation, irritation or erosion of the lining of the stomach; it can be acute or chronic. Causes may include chronic vomiting, stress, the use of anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, infection with the Helicobacter pylori bacteria and pernicious anaemia. Some of the commonest symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and bloating, indigestion, loss of appetite and blood in the stools.
