Up to 80% of the UK’s adult population suffers tension headaches. Pain is typically either mild or moderate, on both sides of the head or centrally, and pressing or tight in quality, but does not worsen with physical activity. There may be some photophobia (dislike of light) or phonophobia (dislike of noise) but no nausea. Headaches can be daily or very frequent, and can last from minutes to days.
