Acupuncture and tui na massage are forms of ancient Chinese medicine that offer a holistic understanding of health and illness, looking at the whole person in the context of their life.
Chinese medicine is based on the concept of Qi (or ‘Chi’, as in ‘T’ai Chi’), which is the vital energy or life force that flows through a system of energetic ‘channels’ or meridians in the body. When Qi gets blocked, the system becomes unbalanced, and pain and ill-health follow. Your symptoms indicate the ways in which your system is out of balance; acupuncture and tui na can rebalance your system. Both therapies aim to tackle the root of your condition, as well as your symptoms – this dual approach helps in resolving your condition and enhancing your feelings of overall wellbeing.
Both acupuncture and tui na have developed over 3,000 years to offer highly sophisticated diagnosis and treatment. They are able to address acute, recent, chronic and recurring problems. Both therapies often achieve successful remedies for conditions that modern Western medicine has difficulty in treating effectively.
Acupuncture uses very fine needles inserted into the body, while tui na uses non-invasive massage techniques. You can choose which form of therapy you prefer, or you may wish to mix the two in a single treatment.
If you’d like to know more about how acupuncture or tui na massage can help you, please book a £10 half-hour ‘chat, cuppa and taster’ session for either acupuncture or tuina. This gives you a chance to discuss your conditions or symptoms with me, and to try a taste of your chosen therapy. You can either book online, or call on 07582 234578.
